Declared by DHH as the Omarchy Quattro Install World Record.
How it got here
Omarchy went from a five-minute install to under a minute in roughly a year. Most of that came from one decision: making the installer work offline, which took the network out of the equation and left the disk as the thing that decides your number.
-
2025-08-25 · Omarchy 2.0Under five minutes, with a fast connection
DHH publishes the breakdown: one minute formatting and encrypting the drive, one minute installing Arch, two minutes forty installing and configuring Omarchy itself. The install still needs the network, so bandwidth is part of everyone's number.
-
2025-09-08 · Omarchy 3.0 RCUnder three minutes
Ryan Hughes rebuilds the install flow around a new offline ISO. Removing the network removes the largest source of variance between machines — from here on, an install time is a statement about your disk, not your ISP.
-
2025-09-10 · Omarchy 3.0 RCTwo minutes
Two days later, the same work lands at two minutes flat for a full install of a complete, configured operating system.
-
2026-08-14 · Omarchy 4.0 (Quattro)Sub-minute becomes possible
The Quattro release notes claim installation is over 30% faster and the ISO more than a gigabyte smaller, at under 6GB — with sub-minute installs now possible. Days later, an HP ZBook Ultra G1a turns the claim into 50 seconds.
Recorded runs
One unclassed board. Faster hardware wins, and that is fine — the specs sit next to every time so you can read a number for what it is.

About the times on this page
Every time here is the number Omarchy's own installer printed on its completion screen — Installed Omarchy in 0m 50s — not a stopwatch held by us or anyone else.
These times are taken on trust. That screen shows one line of text and nothing else: no version, no hardware, no date. A screenshot of it proves nothing, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Versions and specs are self-reported. Runs marked Observed in the wild were collected from public posts by people who never agreed to any of this.
Got a faster one? Open an issue with your completion screen and your drive.
For scale
Why any of this is worth a page. These are typical reported ranges rather than controlled measurements — the point is the order of magnitude, not the decimal.
| System | Typical install | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 11 (26H2) | 15–30 min | Core install on a modern NVMe SSD, before out-of-box setup, drivers and updates. Microsoft Q&A |
| macOS Sequoia | 30–60 min | Full erase-and-reinstall on supported hardware, network dependent. CleanMyMac FAQ |
